Seattle Jazz Vesper - Performer's Resource

Seattle Jazz Vespers was formed in the summer of 2001 out of a vision of our pastor and a dedicated group of jazz aficionados who volunteer and host this series in the beautiful historic gothic Sanctuary of Seattle's second oldest church.

The concept of the series is simple. Offer this venue to the best of the Pacific Northwest's Jazz Artist to perform 100-minutes of music of their choice. The artist enjoy a community of jazz enthusiasts and families who are there to enjoy their performance, free from distracting talk or other interruptions common to most other venues. Following the concert, everyone is invited to enjoy community, light food and refreshments downstairs in the church's Fellowship hall.

On the Seattle Jazz Vesper's website, we provide detailed artist biographic information. Please email your information along with a digital photograph of your group (color preferred) to our webmaster (no later than September 1st) prior to the start of our next season which begins the first Sunday in October.

If you have questions about sound reinforcement, please email our sound engineer.

Your group can arrive for setup and sound check anytime from 4:30 p.m. on, however it is encouraged that your arrive no later than 5:00 p.m. since doors open at 5:30 p.m. Park in the lot at the rear of the church (parking is free during this time) and enter the Sanctuary using the ramp and double-wide doors adjacent to the parking area.

Performance Recording

The Seattle Jazz Vespers sound engineer can record your performance either Audio (stereo), Video, or both. Audio and Video recordings are unedited. Audio recordings are to a DAT recorder but must be transferred to .WAV/PCA format on one or more CD depending on the length of your concert. Video is recorded on to DVCAM tapes and then transferred to DVD-R (2-hour maximum length).

There is a nominal charge for both services that must be contracted directly with the sound engineer before your performance in order to ensure that blank media is available and the equipment is configured for the recording of your performance:

  • Audio recording and transfer from DAT to CD PCA/WAV file format: $40

  • Video recording and transfer from DVCAM to DVD-R: $70 for first HQ master, $30 for second HQ master, additional copies are $15 ea.

If you would like either or both of these recording services done, please email our sound engineer, prior to your performace date with your request.

Artist Auditions for Next Season

We finalize our line up for our next season prior to month of September, so the earlier you can submit your audition material for consideration, the better. We prefer all types of jazz styles, plus classical big band / swing and classical rhythm and blues styles. Having a vocalist is a plus.
