Sanctuary Choir

Our Mission

The primary mission of the Sanctuary Choir is weekly participation in worship through leading congregational song and providing choral music during the service as a medium of prayer, praise and reflection.

A second mission is to present major musical works sung by people of faith in a sacred space. We believe that sacred works of art accompanied by orchestra need to be heard in worship spaces as well as concert halls.

We create music with others for spiritual enrichment and to encourage communion between God and our congregation. We seek out opportunities to serve our greater community by engaging our talents and by sharing messages of peace, justice, and healing through song. We are a welcoming and affirming choir who actively supports the LGBTQ community and the diversity of our congregational membership.

What We Do

  • Rehearse and perform anthems from across the historical, geographical, and stylistic spectrum of music, ranging from Bach to contemporary Indonesian music, from African-American gospel to Duruflé
  • Present three major events with orchestra a year
  • Enjoy the fellowship, companionship, and loving support of a community united by music and faith
