Joyful Noise presents an exciting musical weekend: A number of our folks are singing with Joyful Noise, a community choir performing the music of Broadway on Saturday, May 19, at 8 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Visit Joyful Noise on the web at www.joyfulnoiseseattle.org.

It is a way of sharing our Sunday experience together before we go back out into the world. You are invited to a free, no RSVP required, “Thank You” luncheon in Fellowship Hall following worship on Sunday, May 20, 2012. This is our way of celebrating the ministry of Companis and the partnership we have shared with SFBC for more than 18 years. We are continually encouraged by your generosity and participation with the Companis Workers as they serve on our behalf among neighbors who find themselves in need of advocacy, love and support. While enjoying Chef Rick Hansen’s delicious food, we will be entertained by the 50 dynamic youth of Diverse Harmony Chorus, performing selections from their upcoming concert at the GALA International Music Festival. Also during the luncheon, the 2012 Janet G. Newell Award for Community Service will be presented to civic leader and longtime SFBC member, Dr. Neil Elgee. We look forward to breaking bread with all of you at the luncheon on May 20th!

Seattle Jazz Vespers is a monthly professional concert featuring the best jazz and blues performers in Seattle in one of the most acoustically resonant venues in the metro area. The performers play and sing their best music, their favorite numbers. They have the treat of performing to an appreciative, diverse audience where they are not competing with food and conversation. In this great concert setting, audiences truly get to know the performers and enjoy their artistry “up close.” After the concert,  join us for light refreshments and a chance to meet the performers.

Seattle Jazz Vespers is sponsored by the historic Seattle First Baptist Church. An free-will offering will be taken to support the musicians.

There are no tickets, no entry costs, no reservations necessary. It’s just 100 minutes of Seattle's best jazz and blues with an inspirational interlude. Now, in its tenth season, SJV isheld the first Sunday evening of these months: October, November, December, January (note date change to January 8, 2012,) February, March and April, May and June. There is free, lighted adjacent parking at the church.

The Seattle Jazz Vespers is designed for the general public, family friendly and persons of all faiths.
