Obituary Writing with Rebecca Morris

“Write Your Own Obituary – Or Someone Else’s”
Sunday, May 17, 12:30-1:30pm in the Parlor

As New York Times obit writer Margalit Fox says, “Obituaries have next to nothing to do with death and absolutely everything to do with life.”

Death notices have been written to be shared for thousands of years. They’ve changed because our attitudes about death have changed. Now, even humor is not out of place.

SFBC’s Rebecca Morris will talk about writing your obituary, or that of a loved one or a pet, on Sunday, May 17 following the service. During a 50-year-career in journalism Rebecca worked in radio and TV, and for newspapers and magazines across the country. She is a New York Times bestselling author and has written nine true crime books, two of which were made as TV movies. She appears frequently on TV and in documentaries as a crime expert. She is a ‘writer in residence’ and teaches a variety of writing courses at branches of The Seattle Public Library.
