Crisis Care Info Session
Sunday, May 3 at 12:30pm in the Fellowship Hall
In 2023, King County voters approved the Crisis Care Centers Initiative to create five 24/7 Crisis Care Centers around King County (the first is open in Kirkland), expand and restore residential treatment beds, and provide specialized training to behavioral health professionals. By the end of 2027, the King County Department of Community and Human Services is opening a Crisis Care Center for mental and behavioral health care in the former Polyclinic building that is located across Harvard Ave from the church. Over the past year, the pastors have been in conversation with DCHS staff and area neighbors about this project. The pastors and staff are supportive of this development, as they interact with people in need on a daily basis in and around the church. Once this center opens, there will be an easily accessible place for people to get care for mental or behavioral health crises regardless of whether or not they have insurance. The Crisis Care Center will include in-patient and out-patient services, as well as work with local organizations to do follow-up care and support tailored to individual needs. The availability of this Center will ease the burden on area hospital emergency rooms and first responders.
Connections Health Solutions was recently selected to operate the coming Center. Renovations will start later in 2026, and the facility will open by the end of 2027. DCHS, Connections Health Solutions, and city and county leaders are in the process of creating a Good Neighbor Agreement for the neighborhood around the Crisis Care Center. DCHS staff will visit the church on Sunday, May 3 after worship at 12:30pm in the Fellowship Hall to provide an info session specifically for the church. We will have the opportunity to ask questions, consider together what the church needs from a Good Neighbor Agreement, as well as what the church can offer to support the healthcare workers and clients across the street. If you have any questions about this event or would like to make sure your question gets asked during this session, please contact Pastor Anita.
