Play Reading Circle “Anna in the Tropics”

Anna in the Tropics by Nilo Cruz captures 1929 Florida at a time when cigars were still rolled by hand in immigrant-owned factories, and lectors were hired to educate and entertain employees as they labored. The new lector in this drama is a cause for great celebration, but he serves as a catalyst in many ways for this family dealing with the inevitability of change, with the tropics, and with the American dream.
