Play Reading Circle “Freud’s Last Session”

March 7 and April 4, 3:00pm on Zoom

Who? 83-year-old Sigmund Freud, who has written that religion is a neurosis and God an illusion. And C.S. Lewis, Oxford scholar, author, and former atheist turned devout Christian.

What? An imaginary meeting and conversation between these two men, covering the existence of God, the validity of religion, social mores, and sex. (The play by Mark St. Germain is called Freud’s Last Session.)

Where? At Freud’s home in London.

When? September 3, 1939, the day England declared war on Nazi Germany (in response to the invasion of Poland). Three weeks before Freud’s physician-assisted death (he has oral cancer).

Why? Join us and determine this for yourself.

SFBC’s Play Reading Circle meets the first Saturday of each month from 3:00-5:00pm on Zoom. No theatrical experience needed. Scripts are available to check out at the Welcome Table in the Fellowship Hall or by arrangement by calling the church office at (206) 325-6051.
