Litany of Comfort and Prayer
Led by Cherry Johnson
One: Let your steadfast love become our comfort, O Holy One, according to your promise to your people. Let your mercy come to us, that we may live. Many: Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. One: As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you, says our God. Many: God is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? God is the strength of my life; I will not be afraid. One: Who will separate us from the love of God? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or weapons of war? Many: For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God. One: Teach us the way, that leads to life, love, and wholeness. And, protect us from those who would do us harm. We are all created in your perfect image. We are precious in your sight. Many: God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, God you have brought us thus far on our way. God who has by your might led us into the light, keep us forever in your path, we pray. |
