Community and Connection

Our Small Groups Ministry exists to foster community and connection outside of Sunday morning worship. The Small Groups Ministry values sharing stories, deep listening, engaging in faith exploration, putting faith in action, supporting one another, and having fun. We have many different groups that are open to various ages.

Current Small Groups

Prayer Group
Every Tuesday, 11:30am on Zoom
Members of our church family near and far gather weekly for prayer. In these short meetings (perfect for a lunchtime break), we share a short reflection, then share public and personal prayer requests. This group is alternately clergy and lay-led, as together we form the praying body of our church.

Young Adult Bible Study
Every Tuesday, 6:30pm
We’re a group of young adults who meet weekly to discuss and learn about the Bible. We have a flat leadership style and rotate leaders every week to provide a variety of learning and teaching opportunities.

Men’s Group
2nd Tuesday of month, 7pm on Zoom
4th Sunday of month, in person for lunch after worship
This group offers a chance for the men of SFBC to come to know and support one another.

Optimism Hour
2nd Wednesday of month, 5:30-6:30pm at Stoup Brewing
This group meets to share fellowship over cold beverages before choir practice. (Non-alcoholic drinks are available). Singers and non-singers alike are welcome.

Exploring Contemplation
1st & 3rd Fridays of month, 11am on Zoom
In this group we meet twice a month to explore various traditions of contemplation, to build a meditative community, and to equip us to live in times such as these mindfully and lovingly. Our times together are a mixture of music, instruction, guided meditation, silence, and sharing.

Play Reading Circle
1st Saturday of month, 3-5pm on Zoom
If you love theater, join this group to read plays aloud together!

Friendship Circle
2nd Sunday of month, 12:45-1:45pm, SFBC Peacemaker Room and on Zoom
This ongoing group is for women who meet for friendship and spiritual support and a focus on missions.
