Council of Ministries Endorses No Hate in WA State

At their June meeting, the council of ministries unanimously endorsed No Hate in WA State’s Vote No on IL26-001 & IL26-638 campaign on behalf of SFBC. These two initiatives are on the ballot this November and target children, specifically trans children. IL26-001 removes common sense record protections and would require school counselors and therapists to turn over confidential notes about students. This could endanger students with abusive, homophobic, and/or transphobic parents. IL26-638 will subject girls to invasive genital exams to verify their sex in order to play sports. Both of these initiatives are extremely harmful to children, and especially trans and nonbinary children.
