Music is an essential component of life at Seattle First Baptist.
With regular concerts from local music organizations, a diligent volunteer choir, and guest musicians regularly blessing our space with their talents and songs, we are excited to welcome you into our musical experiences.
For over a century, SFBC has valued and prioritized music in our community.
The music we sing together helps define who we are, what we value, and how we reflect that in our time together: join us as music brings us together, fosters community, highlights our heritage and faith, and is integral to our mission for social, racial, economic, and political justice.
We are blessed to be the home of a historic 1953 Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ, originally built for First Methodist Church in Tacoma, WA. This organ was rescued from that church’s demolition, refurbished by Bond Organ Builders of Portland, OR, and formally dedicated at SFBC on October 21, 2007. It has since been a featured instrument in Organ Historical Society (OHS) and American Guild of Organists (AGO) conventions in Seattle.
Seattle Jazz Vespers
Seattle Jazz Vespers is a secular concert of professional jazz music, for those who love jazz, with an inspirational message. Seattle Jazz Vespers is free and open to the public on the first Sunday night of each month (October through June) at 6pm. No tickets or reservations are needed. Doors open at 5:30pm. Free parking at the lot located on the southeast corner of Boylston Ave and Spring Street or on the street around the church. Come early for best seating and parking. The artists perform one set and during their break a “free-will” offering is taken to support the musicians, followed by a short non-sectarian inspirational message. The performers’ second set concludes these two-hour vespers concerts.
