Sarah B Rose

Sarah Rose – Vocals; Chris Symer – Bass; Dylan Hayes – Piano; Xavier Lecouturier – Drums

Sarah B. Rose is a vocalist, composer, pianist and educator from Eugene, Oregon. She studied classical, musical theatre and jazz with Siri Vik and Vicki Brabham at Lane Community College before transferring to Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle to focus on jazz voice and composition. In Seattle she studied with jazz vocalist Johnaye Kendrick, pianist/composer Dawn Clement and pianist/composer Jovino Santos Neto. She has recently graduated cum laude from Cornish with a Bachelors of Music.

Sarah is a jazz interpreter of the Great American songbook, but also has a passion for writing original material. She will be recording an album later this year. Rose has also won the Downbeat Music Award twice for “best pop/blues vocalist” of the year. In June of 2018, Sarah won the Seattle Jazz Vespers “Young Jazz Artist” scholarship and we are happy to welcome her back for her SJV premiere.

“Her portamento phrasing is engaging, with the fluidity of a horn. She knows when to pause and create a dramatic moment in her solos. Sarah’s upper register sounds clear and vibrant and her stage demeanor is funny and engaging.” — Jovino Santos Neto
